"just give us two keys and a floor plan and we'll do the rest."
okay so last night we got a strange message from a foreign-sounding man regarding a moving company. it sounded a little too weird to be serious, so we kept it to laugh at. listen to it here.
then this morning we get another one, from a different guy but still foreign. but it actually sounds like the same guy. it's almost the same message, for the same company, same phone number. listen to this one.
we figure it has to be a joke from someone we know. we guess it's either adam or jay, but adam hasn't mentioned anything and it sounds nothing like him. it sounds a lot like jay (a lot!) but it's not his phone number. so i call up the phone number they left, and it actually sounds like a legit company until a while into the message when it just sounds like a really creepy scam (yet still awesome). listen to what you get when you call the moving company.
so yeah, if you listen to the last one you hear me press 2, which is what i'm supposed to do to get to a live operator, but it just hangs up and i get the off-the-line beep beep beep. mystery!
if this is you, you are the best. but i really doubt it's you, and so it's just creepy, while remaining somewhat interesting. feel free to call the numbers yourself, i don't think i have the balls to call the number given in the last one (the one to get more information or to be put on the do-not-call list, it's a 905 number)... but hey, feel free.
...the first two, the messages, really sound like jay.

tupperware party this saturday at the ford plant. along with tim, nich, and gavin.
should be fuuuun. this one's for real.
if you want to be invited to a belated housewarming/dinner party, email me and i'll let you know the details once we figure them out.
it's come to my attention i've recorded over 400 songs ever, and over 100 since september. you'd think i'd have some actually good stuff with a repertoire like that, but no.
i don't go on livejournal or deadjournal anymore. i don't know why. i'm also trying to get re-addicted to 20hz but it isn't working.
weakerbots and raising the fawn tomorrow!
the kitten is going to type on the keyboard: niukkjggggggggggggggggggggggh5rrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooooooooed
and i mean, that's really cute, but it isn't nearly as cute as this.
can someone explain to me why the fiery furnaces are so well-liked? i don't think i understand their greatness.
i am hip hop.

whoroscope: friday sept 22 taurus Different strokes for different folks. Today, more people around you will differ in their beliefs from yours. Rather than clash with all of them, listen respectfully to their opinions. Then only if absolutely necessary, try explaining your position. Great day to expose yourself to other points of view.
and i copied and pasted this and almost hit ok before realizing this was for sept 22, so it obviously won't happen today (other points of view? fuck. that. shit!)
here's the REAL DEAL kids! Don't overdo what should be understated. Walk the thin line between tooting your own horn and being entirely reticent. You'll get noticed.
wow man, that's heavy stuff. i don't think that will happen.
( today, we get this little bundle of love )
tomorrow we start the ongoing process of moving. soon we will announce the date of our funfunfun housewarming party where you can come and dance and drink and give us a fork if you like. if we invite you, fuckers. and i think it might end up being set for "whenever the hell ryan and jackie can come down". sound good, mandy?
tuesday, iron and wine.
wednesday, maybe majesties, maybe jenny barmitzvah + steve kado's all-bass all-boss spectacular.
thursday, 9 months. we could've had a baby by now!
july 6, blood brothers.
july 10, tupperware / the ride theory.
hey, do you cats think chez monieux or que bella are good band names? apparantly me and three other rock stars are starting a band, and i really don't want to be called the broken arms.
i'm starting to get into the habit of writing more non-hip-hop-oriented lyrics again, and i have to tell you, i don't like it one bit.
july 10, tupperware / the ride theory.
what, didn't you hear the first time?
so, when the constantines play the ford plant, all fire regulations will be disregarded. because there's no way that show will be anything other than a packed-to-the-brim sweaty rockfest. and there's other bands playing too, but fuck them (sorry other bands), it's the constantines. in fucking brantford. i smell trouble.
should i, as tupperware, attempt to sell out and write an extremely catchy radio-friendly hit with girl diva vocals for the hook? cuz i think i could get that done. and it would be called like "hey hey alright" or something to that effect. do i hear a dare? cuz that's all i need.
we're getting a kitten today.
july 10, tupperware?

livejournal didn't work the first time. here we go again.
here is a rough guesstimate as to my thirty most-listened-to albums ever:
- smashing pumpkins - mellon collie and the infinite sadness
- smashing pumpkins - siamese dream
- radiohead - ok computer
- weezer - pinkerton
- beastie boys - ill communication
- the beatles - abbey road
- dinosaur jr - where you been
- foo fighters - the colour and the shape
- beck - midnite vultures
- sloan - one chord to another
- bjork - post
- sonic youth - washing machine
- nirvana - in utero
- radiohead - the bends
- pearl jam - vitalogy
- the breeders - last splash
- nirvana - nevermind
- broken social scene - you forgot it in people
- system of a down - system of a down
- sloan - twice removed
- beastie boys - paul's boutique
- constantines - constantines
- beck - odelay
- puff daddy - no way out
- pearl jam - vs
- karate - unsolved
- spacehog - the chinese album
- sonic youth - dirty
- weezer - weezer
- songs: ohia - axxess and ace
yeah i was around in the 90s. remember, this is me sitting down and listening to an album in its entirety, hence the obvious lack of some of my favourite bands. this tells me i should listen to doolittle and crooked rain more often. and now, back to mitch albom.

it's the joy of seeing someone's face when way too much hype is still being exceded. it's stepping on toes left right and center and getting yours stepped on. it's singing off-key and calling it harmony. it's hundreds of arms swinging every which way, aimlessly. it's the whispers to friends you hear between songs. it's the way no one cares that they can't dance. it's the goddamn motherfucking arcade fire, and i promise you, i swear on my entire cd collection, this band cannot be stopped.
what a fucking show!

so it's pride week. and york has a rainbow flag flying under the canada flag.
so i'm walking back to the place from class, and one of the two jock-esque guys (yes, they were both a stereotype just like me) says to the other, and i quote "man, that flag is GAY!" in all seriousness!!!
i walked a little faster. and then i got home and kissed mandy and made chicken alfredo skillet sensations.
and i want to see ted leo tonight, very very much.
|
|
|
so yesterday i went to a wedding on a boat for my uncle with mandy and the family and there was fun and dancing and drinks and food. and then my family and mandy's family met for the first time and went to dinner and had a lovely time. and then i saw the majesties and despistado at the ford plant. and then i went to nikki's house with karley and looked at old yearbook photos of people from north park (before i knew nolan, he had long silverchair hair. wow). and then i went to bed. and somewhere in the middle of this i fell down the stairs.
and today was fathers day. and in celebration, karen and i recorded the best song ever. (to the few of you who have already heard karen and i sing twist and shout backwards: this is an all-new COMPLETE version! download! and love!)
i am going back to toronto tonight at 6:50. rock AND roll. arcade fire wednesday. majesties another wednesday at sneaky dees. maybe MAYBE ted leo tomorrow.
awesomeawesome. i fell down the stairs.

i think friday's show went pretty well, considering. good turnout, i estimate i made a fool of myself in front of about 30-40 people? is that about right? anyway yeah i held my lyrics in my left hand the whole show, in front of my face, and i still messed up a bunch of lines. but i had a friggin blast, and i got rid of all 20 cds i made up for the night, so i think it went pretty okay. fun was had.
i made a tape for mandy!
pink floyd - us and them doves - there goes the fear bright eyes - bowl of oranges pedro the lion - when they really get to know you they will run bob dylan - blowin in the wind pearl jam - yellow ledbetter the flashing lights - aunties and uncles radiohead - life in a glass house (full length version) the weakerthans - past due (demo) guided by voices - tropical robots beck - feather in your cap nathan lawr - we go down miighty flashlight - thickened light

FOUR things you look forward to 1. moving in two weeks 2. new classes in two weeks 3. financial stability 4. going to bed

i will be singing two songs in class tomorrow. one, a song by tim ford, and one a song by me:
"the last day's confession"
oxygen masks will be provided for a fee cross your fingers and hope it comes quickly
i guess i should tell you now son there's no such thing as santa claus
duck and cover leave your belongings where they are god bless america no use wishing on a star
i guess i should tell you now son there's no such thing as santa claus and those trees we cut down every year could've saved your life
and i paid for your train set with drug money
so it looks like a band's being organized with me and three other guys from class. tim and i on guitar and vocals (possibly the best songwriting team ever), jake on organ, and jahmal on drums. tim needs to change his name to jim, to fit in.
woo, what an update! what a great time!
